SAIL has bagged the order for providing consultancy services for two Power Plants of Messrs Gujarat NRE Coke Limited (GNCL) to be set up at a cost of around Rs. 100 crores. These power plants will be set up at Dharwad, Karnataka and Bhachau, Gujarat and will be commissioned within 24 months.
SAILCON, the consultancy division of SAIL will provide design, engineering and consultancy services towards setting up these two plants with total capacity of 30-MW. SAILCON will execute the job with the assistance of SAIL's Centre for Engineering Technology located at Ranchi. These will be designed by using the sensible heat of the flue gases from GNCL's Coke Oven batteries. GNCL is India's largest non-captive manufacturer of met coke, with operating coking coal mines in Australia.
