A new 1,250-tonnes per day (TPD) Air Separation Plant has been installed by M/s Inox Air Products Ltd at Bokaro on build-own-operate (BOO) basis as part of the modernisation & expansion plan of SAIL's Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL). BSL Managing Director Mr. VK Srivastava inaugurated the new plant today in the presence of Vice President (Inox AP) Mr. Robert Dixon, Senior Advisor Mr. Wayne Hinman, President (Air Products Asia) Mr. Wilbur Mok, Vice President (Air Products Asia) Mr. Carlos Almeida, Chairman & MD (Inox AP India) Mr. PK Jain, Director Mr. Siddhartha Jain, General Manager Mr. A Adhikari, Project In-charge Mr. AK Khan and other members of Inox AP India. Executive Director (Projects) Mr. NK Jha, Executive Director (P&A) Mr. Jeevesh Mishra, General Manager (Utilities) Mr. Shyam Mohan, General Manager (Town Services) Mr. R Kumar, DGM (Oxygen Plant) Mr. THC Mouli and other members of Projects and Oxygen Plant of Bokaro Steel Plant were also present on the occasion.
Welcoming the guests, Mr. PK Jain hailed the Air Separation Plant as testimony to the productive alliance between the public and the private sectors. Mr. Dixon expressed deep satisfaction with the alliance between SAIL and Inox AP and hoped to further consolidate this relationship and enhance their business presence in Eastern India. After inaugurating the ASU, Mr. Srivastava congratulated the Inox AP team for successful completion of the project and expressed confidence that the new ASU would play a key role in helping BSL enhance its productivity and efficiency. In his vote of thanks, Mr. Siddhartha Jain expressed gratitude towards BSL for facilitating their project implementation.
The ASU has a daily production capacity of 1,100 tonnes of gaseous oxygen, 150 tonnes of liquid oxygen, 3,000 tonnes of varoius categories of nitrogen and 48 tonnes of argon. The plant also has separate storage tanks for 5000 tonnes of liquid oxygen, 3,000 tonnes of liquid nitrogen and 500 tonnes of argon to ensure uninterrupted supply of these products to BSL.
M/s Inox have a wide presence across the geographical and industrial spectrum of India, with the BSL unit consolidating their presence in the eastern sector.
