Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) supplied 33,500 metric tonnes of steel for the construction of the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, which today facilitated touch-and-go landings by Indian Air Force aircraft. SAIL primarily provided long products, including earthquake-resistant TMT bars, for this project. The company’s branded EQR (Earthquake Resistant) TMT bars, known for their superior quality, were supplied in various customized specifications.
The Indian Air Force conducted a special exercise involving touch-and-go landings on a designated stretch of the expressway. The exercise began with the landing of a 35,000-kg C-130J Super Hercules aircraft—marking the first time this transport aircraft participated in such a drill on an expressway. Previously, the IAF had landed Mirage 2000 and Sukhoi-30MKI fighter jets on the Yamuna and Lucknow-Agra Expressways.
