Chairman, SAIL Mr. C.S.Verma has been adjudged 'CEO of the Year' at the 2014 Platts Global Metals Awards. Mr. Verma is the first CEO from India to have been conferred with this honour which was given at a glittering ceremony held in London on 21st May, 2014 which was attended by a large number of eminent industry leaders. The nominees for the awards were industry leaders from 19 countries.
The award is in recognition of a comprehensive leadership style demonstrated by Mr Verma that has placed India's largest steel-producing company on the path of robust growth overcoming challenges such as price volatility and increased competition.. Mr Verma, who became SAIL's chairman in 2010, has displayed visionary, passionate and tenacious leadership in steering the company of over one lakh employees The judges lauded Mr Verma for improving the company's operational performance while also demonstrating a strong commitment to human resource development and corporate social responsibility.
Mr. Verma in his acceptance speech, dedicated this global award to the one lakh workforce of SAIL who make the company proud on account of their commitment, talent & passion, he said.
