Shri S. Machendranathan, Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor, Ministry of Steel (MoS), inaugurated the Steel Pavilion at India International Trade Fair 2011, at Hall No. 18 in Pragati Maidan here today in the presence of SAIL Director (Commercial) Mr. Shuman Mukherjee, SAIL Director (Finance) Mr. Anil Chaudhary, Joint Secretary, MoS Shri J.P. Shukla and other senior officials of MoS and PSUs under its jurisdiction.
The sprawling pavilion showcases the manufacturing facilities and the range of products & services catered by companies under the MoS, namely Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL), National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), MOIL, MSTC, Ferro Scrap Nigam Ltd (FSNL), MECON, Hindustan Steelworks Construction Ltd (HSCL), KIOCL, Bird Group of Companies and Joint Plant Committee. Besides, three private steel producing companies - Tata Steel, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd and Monnet Steel & Energy Ltd - have also displayed their products and facilities at the pavilion.
Laying emphasis on various applications of steel, the pavilion clearly shows how steel is the backbone of nation. By simplifying technology for a global audience in a creative and innovative style, the Steel Pavilion is set to draw crowds and educate Indian people about the latest and cleanest technologies in use.
The inauguration was marked by a colourful cultural extravaganza consisting of regional songs and dances. Cultural shows will be held at the pavilion on all days of the trade fair.
