The name of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) figured prominently in the list of the award winners for the prestigious Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar, announced recently for the year 2005.
In all, 10 groups from SAIL comprising 41 employees, out of the total 28 groups from all over the country will receive the award on 17th September 2006. Among the SAIL winners, 35 employees hail from Bhilai Steel Plant, four from Rourkela Steel Plant and two from Salem Steel Plant. The total cash prize for all the SAIL award winners works out to be Rs 2.10 lakh.
Divided into three categories, the Vishwakarma awards are distributed every year by the Ministry of Labour, Government of India on the auspicious day of Vishwakarma Puja. The awards are given to employees of industrial undertakings, mines, plantations and docks in recognition of their outstanding innovative contributions leading to improvement in productivity in their own area of work.
