The steel plant at Burnpur has been a source of pride, strength and happiness for local residents and surrounding areas for nearly a century. Spreading its wings far beyond the scope of industrial manufacturing, the plant has engaged itself in a number of cultural, social and community services. People, the real driving force behind every step, have always been the centre of such activities.
Products
ISP produces a large number of steel structures and special sections as well as pig iron. The plant pioneered the production of centre-sill Z-section used in the fabrication of wagon and Z-type sheet piling section used in construction of barrages, bridge foundations and other projects and colliery arch section used for roof support in collieries. The plant has also developed ‘slit rolling’ for small diameter rounds (10 mm and 12 mm TMT), which are in high demand in the domestic market.

About Rourkela Steel Plant
Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), the first integrated steel plant in the public sector in India, was set up with German collaboration with an installed capacity of 1 million tonnes. Subsequently, its capacity was enhanced to 2 million tonnes of hot metal, 1.9 million tonnes of crude steel and 1.67 million tonnes of saleable steel. After implementing a massive modernisation and expansion, Rourkela Steel Plant has enhanced its capacity to 4.5 million tonnes of Hot Metal and 4.2 Million Tonnes of Crude Steel.

The Durgapur Steel Plant township is spread over a sprawling 36 sq.kms and has more than 25,000 dwelling units. And it has housing facilities for the employees of DSP, ASP and other business associates. The other amenities include schools, both primary and secondary, a modern 600 beds hospital with modern medical facilities, the picturesque park, a number of cultural centres, a stadium with a sitting capacity of 15,000, etc.
