ÔÇ£It is a matter of pride for all of us that 56 out of 179 awardees who have won the Prime MinisterÔÇÖs Shram Awards are from Steel Authority of India Limited. These awards acknowledge employeesÔÇÖ efforts, especially at the shop floor levelÔÇØ, stated SAIL Chairman Mr C.S. Verma at a felicitation ceremony for Shram Awardees organized at Scope Minar here today. The Shram Awards for Calendar years 2005, 2006 and 2007 were given away by HonÔÇÖble Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh and Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Shri Mallik Arjun Kharge at a glittering ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan yesterday. ItÔÇÖs worth a mention that the estimated savings resulting from implementation of works mentioned in the Award Winning Projects of SAIL are over Rs. 380 cores.
Constituted by the Government of India, the Shram awards are given in recognition of distinguished performance, innovative abilities, outstanding contribution in the field of productivity and exhibition of exceptional courage and presence of mind. Carrying forward the baton of excellence, SAIL employees also gleaned wide recognition in the Shram Awards for year 2008, announced in August this year, with 24 out of 52 awardees being SAIL employees.
SAIL Director (Personnel), Mr B.B. Singh, also present at the felicitation ceremony today congratulated the awardees and reiterated SAILÔÇÖs commitment towards its main asset, namely, SAILÔÇÖs manpower. SAIL workers, known for their dedication and commitment to organizational excellence, have brought laurels for the company and its plants and units at various awards and fora, year after year.
